The Oklahoma City… Non-SuperSonics?

9 July 2008 by David in Basketball, Uniforms

In case you haven’t heard yet, after 41 years, the Seattle SuperSonics’ basketball franchise has up and moved to Oklahoma City, the city that recently housed the Hornets for a year due to Katrina.
I’m not particularly concerned with this in either direction; here are my thoughts off the top of my head: The Sonics have [...]

The Worst Sports Uniforms of All-Time

24 June 2008 by David in Uniforms

Found out recently that current NY Rangers hockey player Sean Avery used to intern at Vogue (yes, the magazine) and that while he was there compiled a list of the worst sports uniforms of all-time. It’s pretty cool to check out, even if you’ve just got a second to flip through it.
I am, however, a [...]

Cleveland Indians’ nameplates

29 April 2008 by David in Baseball, Uniforms

Sorry I’ve been out of commission lately; last week was a crazy, crazy week. It’s over now, and I can get back into the groove of posting daily.
Back to the subject of this post. Last night I was watching the Yankees play the Indians and I noticed something I’ve never noticed before: The Indians fill [...]

Lance Berkman has the greatest batting gloves of all-time

12 April 2008 by David in Astros, Baseball, Uniforms

Today my brother and I were watching the Astros play the Marlins when Lance Berkman came up with a man on. He knocked a home run to cap off a four run fourth inning, but as they were showing him on the replays, they showed his batting gloves.
I will search as hard as I possibly [...]

How could I have missed the Cleveland Indians?

1 April 2008 by David in Baseball, Uniforms

I’m not talking about like, Whoa, the Indians are on ESPN, how could I have forgotten to watch them? More like, Whoa, the Indians are in some of the sickest uniforms of all-time:

Even better? They’re not a throwback. These are legit, we-will-be-wearing-these-again, alternate uniforms. I especially like the cap.

Today is a National holiday

30 March 2008 by David in Baseball, Uniforms

While I hate the Atlanta Braves, I love Major League Baseball. It’s one of the most storied sports, and even the people who aren’t particularly keen on it will sit through a game to drink some beers or enjoy some conversation. Either way, I look forward to Opening Day all year. One of the only [...]

David Beckham’s 100th Cap

28 March 2008 by David in Soccer, Uniforms

English superstar and now Galaxy player David Beckham recently played his 100th game (called a ‘cap’) with England in a game against France which they won 1-0. The English team made a special uniform for the occasion that looks pretty sweet (click on the pic for full size):

How is this special? If you look closely, [...]

An NCAA basketball warm-up moment

22 March 2008 by David in Basketball, Uniforms

CBS showed the pre-game pep talk from George Mason coach Jim Larranaga (who happens to have a real hard time not showing his top row of teeth) right before they went up against Notre Dame in the first round of the NCAA tournament. While it didn’t help (Mason lost 68-50), the team was wearing their [...]

A.I. shows Phila love

20 March 2008 by David in Basketball, Uniforms

On the subject of Philadelphia, I’ve also always loved the 76ers. It’s kinda like by default, since I was born there. It also has a lot to do with how awesome their old school jerseys are.
And for anyone that knows anything about Phila, Allen Iverson—basketball god— used to play for them before he got traded [...]
