You got me to do it, Kat: The ABCs of me

20 September 2008 by David in David's Personal Life

Normally, I would never do these. But in my sister’s blog, she called me out and wanted me to do it. To Kat: I want to say I’m doing this because you’re getting married soon and because I forgot that the Men’s Wearhouse need you to get fitted for a tux 14 days prior to the wedding and I showed up today and had to pay a $20 rush fee.

The ABCs of Me

  • A: Attached or Single? Attached to the one and only MagsMac
  • B: Best Friend? Check out that picture. That’s my brother and who I would consider my best friend. (Also, check out our sweet facial hair/hairstyles. Don’t worry: It was for a sketch at church.) If I had to go non-blood relative, I would probably go with Zane, my other roommate.
  • C: Cake or pie? Whoa whoa whoa… Where’s the “None of the Above” on this one? I hate cake and pie isn’t that much better. I’m not a fan of sweets at all; I’ve got a bitter tongue. Can I put salt on it? Yes please.
  • D: Day of choice? Friday night to mid-day Saturday. A night to sleep in followed by full on college football.
  • E: Essential item? A koozie? I don’t know. I love Tigi’s Bed Head Wax Stick. I wouldn’t call it essential though.
  • F: Favorite color? I love black, but most people wouldn’t consider that a color. I’ll go with blue. Brings out my eyes.
  • G: Gummy bears or worms? Once again, gummy stuff sucks. My brother loves Haribo, but I can’t do it at all. The closest I’ll come is fruit snacks and even those are pushing it.
  • H: Hometown? HOUSTON TIL I DIE. I was actually born in Bryn Mawr (a suburb of Philadelphia), and I still love all the Phila teams, but grew up in Houston and love Texas.
  • I: Favorite Indulgence? Beer.
  • J: January or July? January without a doubt. I love summer and sitting at the pool, but nothing beats Christmas-to-the-New-Year times. All the BCS games in like 10 days, it’s like heaven.
  • K: Kids? Ahahaha I think I’ll take my uncle’s route on this one. I don’t see it happening—and certainly not now.
  • L: Life isn’t complete without? Man what a set up question. Let’s avoid the obvious here. What about, like, humor? I love funny commercials. If it has to be tangible, I’ll say a car. Unless it’s New York City, try getting around without one.
  • M: Marriage date? Not a chance.
  • N: Number of brothers and sisters? A younger brother, and an older sister who’s about to get married and bring in more technical brothers.
  • O: Oranges or apples? Once again, not very bitter. If I had to choose, physical oranges, apple juice.
  • P: Phobias? Totally: water. I hate water I can’t see the bottom of and won’t get in it.
  • Q: Quotes? I love how my sister went with CS Lewis and I’m going to go with Davy Crockett: “You all may go to hell and I’m going to Texas.”
  • R: Reasons to smile? Right now? Texas A&M is getting beat, I’m about to grill steaks, Florida is beating Tennessee, and Bentley is cute.
  • S: Season of choice? OK, this is a tough one. Seasons are the perfect metaphor for liking something for awhile and then wanting it to chage; you’re almost never totally satisfied with where you’re at. I love summer when it starts and then when it’s two and a half months in, I can’t wait for winter. Same with sports seasons. I’m choosing winter, by the way, for the holidays—NOT for the weather.
  • T: Tag 5 people? My sister already tagged like everyone I know, so I’m going with a work-heavy tagging:
    1. Ed Schipul, my CEO (@eschipul)
    2. Kim Lange—congrats on the baby! (@inkoluv). KIM. This is a good way to put another post up!
    3. Aaron Long, my boss and who probably won’t do it (@longstation)
    4. Katie Laird (@happykatie)
    5. I can’t think of a fifth. :(
  • U: Unknown fact? I only applied to three colleges to go to school: Penn St., Rice University, and South Carolina. I got into all three and made my decision solely based on the fact that I could live with my now-almost-parents aunt and uncle. (My dad’s a twin.)
  • V: Vegetable? Don’t like vegetables either. I really like vegetable beef soup though, so that’s like vegetables but kinda fake.
  • W: Worst habit? Biting my nails. Easy. I have no nails what-so-ever.
  • Y: Your favorite food? It’s pizza, but the best meal I’ve ever eaten in my entire life is a rare filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes from The Capital Grille.
  • Z: Zodiac sign? I’m an Aries. I don’t believe in it and I also don’t know what it means. I’m going to look it up… “Aries is considered a ‘masculine’, positive (extrovert) sign… are supposed to be active, creative, ingenious, dynamic, and highly energetic.” Sounds about how someone would describe me. I’d definitely go with ingenious. I like that one.

Oh, and when I told Mom and Dad your unknown fact, they said, “Sounds like revisionist history if you ask me.”
