Euros and soccer and your Twitter obssession
Sorry about last week, but I’ve been pretty busy and hadn’t had a chance to catch up with you all on here…
It’s no secret that I’m a huge soccer fan, which kind of sucks in America because it doesn’t get a whole hell of a lot of cred (although I do know that’s changing, especially since I started playing in junior high). Anyway, watching the Euros has kept me pretty occupied and is most assuredly one of the reasons I haven’t been updating.
Anyway, in honor of it, here are some of my favorite recent soccer viral videos.

Fabregas
Cesc Fabregas is a Spanish soccer player who spent part of yesterday defeating Italy in the Euro 2008 competition. My dad likes him, he’s an incredible player, but he also has his own TV show and Nike puts a lot of it on-line. Here’s an episode called “The Killer Touch” which makes you realize why you’re not a professional soccer player—because any ball launched at him he can control. (A note: You have to sit through a lot to get to the good stuff, so if you have time, check it out, or just click-forward in it to see the compeition.)
The First Person POV Next Level Video
Hands down my favorite one of the lot. It just makes me want to play professional soccer so bad. And directed by Guy Ritchie to boot!
That’s the embedded video. Watch the full-size HD video!
Twitter tweets its twast?
And lastly, can Twitter be saved? I’m not a tweeter (twitterer?), but apparently those of you who are—MagsMac, CosmoPolitican, any of this sound familiar?—are having a hard time with the service. Let me know if there’s truth to it.
Yes… sometimes Twitter gets a little overloaded because we love her so (and all “tweet” at once!) but usually hitting refresh once will do the trick.
When there is a huge event that all of us Social Media nerds attend (the Caroline Collective party!), or something big happening in the twitter world that is when the problem usually occurs.
When it does overload, they put up a cute picture of a whale being carried by orange birds so it’s totally worth the wait ;)
