Red Bull gets in on the soda wars, Miller Lite gets in on the redesign game
My good friend (and now betrothed friend) Katy alerted me to this in the comments of the previous post and I had to get in on it immediately: Red Bull is now set to launch Red Bull Cola, an energy drink soda that will have twice as much caffeine (and costs twice as much) as a regular Coke:
The new soda … has more caffeine, at 45 milligrams per 12-ounce can, than Coca-Cola or Pepsi-Cola; and will bear a suggested retail price of about $1.49 for a 12-ounce can, costlier than the average can of Coke.
As much as I like Red Bull, I still believe nothing can take its place. It’s still the best energy drink, hands down, it just isn’t always cost effective. I never like drinking soda as much anyway, and to this day, still don’t drink it unless it’s Sprite (or if it’s mixed with something, oh, I don’t know, alcoholic).

Miller Lite gets in on the redesign game with a new bottle
Just as the header says, Miller Lite went and tweaked their bottle a little bit for an updated look. To accompany, they produced several on-air spots you may have seen while watching the telly lately (including one awkward one about killing your thirst):
Anheuser-Busch, St. Louis, will launch new all-red packaging, flagging Budweiser as “The Great American Lager,” nationally by mid-summer. Miller Brewing, Milwaukee, meanwhile has redesigned an all-blue look for Miller Lite that will begin appearing at stores in April.

The new Miller Lite bottle:
It’s kinda hard to see in that picture, but on the neck of the beer there is more emphasis on the four World Beer Cup awards Miller Brewing Company has won, and the background of the oval behind the “Miller Lite” typography is a tad different.
You can see the old logo in action on the old bottle, and the new logo in action on Miller Lite’s Web site (hopefully soon I’ll have a bigger picture of the actual bottle). Here’s a comparison:
And in case you were wondering, the market share winners go like this:
- Bud Light
- Budweiser
- Miller Lite

I think the world beer cup is stupid. How does something win one year and not the other? Miller Lite tastes the same to me this year as it always has. I don’t get it.
I don’t notice anything different. But we all know that’s probably because I’ve never drank a beer in my life.
[...] But they’ve won this cup, like, four times. It’s so important to them that with their new packaging redesign, they emblazoned it across the neck of the bottle. [...]
